Kinga Gronek-Bokota - Atelier

Hi, my name is Kinga Gronek-Bokota and I am visual artist from Poland, currently living in Hamburg - Germany. My world of creation in which I live (and which I do live) is in particular paintings on paper made mainly with mixed media techniques. In my work I am particularly close to watercolours, and by adding crayons I can highlight elements that are important to me.

I am currently in the midst of a fascination with creating fantasy reliefs from paper mache. In the meantime I'm working on developing the series of Mr.Pear.

It is not uncommon for me to take the fears as it were out of my head and give them form. But I also create my own separate alternative worlds that I would sometimes like to escape to and the creatures that exist in them.
In some of my works I smuggle in the theme of neuroatypicality and mental illnesss.

My trademark is a plush cat on my head, because it perfectly represents what it means to 'have a cat in your head' in a positive sense. Richard - for that is his name - is a symbol of my creativity
and eccentricity. Richard is a metaphor for my way of thinking. I want to show that as adults we don't have to be 'serious' at all.
